31. OneSimCard Rentals
    • How does the global cell phone rental program work?

      It's actually quite simple to rent a OneSimCard international cell phone phone bundle to use during your travels. Just tell us the date you need the phone and we'll ship a complete package directly to your door. Your package will include a mobile phone programmed with an international phone number, extra battery, charger, international travel plug adapter, holster, OneSimCard User Guide, $5 worth of initial airtime, and a US Mail return envelope. When you return from your trip, simply return the package in the envelope provided - just add postage.

      Update: As of March 5, 2018, all rentals come with a prepaid USPS Priority Mail return label. Simply attach it to the provided return envelope with your rentals inside and drop it off at the nearest post office. It’s that easy!

      When you tell us the country of your travel, we will select the SIM card type for you that offers the lowest calling rates in this country.

32. Troubleshooting Questions
    • I can't send SMS from my iPhone

      There is a known bug with iPhone phone book. If you are trying to text to a contact that is entered in the phone book, and the contact is not entered in proper international number format, the SMS will not go through even if you just enter the number in the SMS menu directly and properly. 
      Please edit the record in the phone book to be +CountryCode_Number. It needs to have the + character in front, which is an equivalent of 00.

      You will also need to delete all recent attempts to send SMS to this number from the Messaging menu. It should be no conversation or attempts to send SMS left in the phone to this number.


      We understand that this is very frustrating, but do not know why Apple will not fix it. This problem affects only Apple phones.

      Example: for US Number 1-617-600-8250 you should have entered in the address book: +16176008250
      Delete existing text conversation after fixing the phone book record. 
      You can always test your SMS by sending SMS to OneSimCard Support number +16176008250 from your OneSimCard phone. This will create an automated ticket in the system and you will know if the message was delivered or not. You will be charged regular SMS rate for this message.
33. How To Use Questions
    • How do I prevent the service from expiring?

      The OneSimCard phone number has no expiration, provided you made at least 1 call or sent an SMS once every 18 months.

      However, the funds on the SIM expire 10 months after your last recharge. The minimum recharge amount is $25. You can keep the balance from expiring by simply recharging at least once every 10 months. If you let your balance expire, then all you need to do to get the service up and running again is to log in and add funds to your SIM card. Automatic recharge will be canceled if you let your funds expire.

34. OneSimCard General Service Questions
    • Which phones are compatible with OneSimCard service?

      Any unlocked GSM phone is compatible with OneSimCard Europe & More SIM that does not require any special dialing instructions.
      For Plus and Data & Roam SIM cards, most GSM unlocked Tri-band or Quad-Band phones are compatible with OneSimCard service.

      Older Verizon & Sprint dual-mode CDMA/GSM "World Phones" such as BlackBerry (Bold, Curve, Tour, Pearl, Storm, 8830); LG (Fathom); HTC (Touch, Ozone, Imagio); Samsung (Saga, Intrepid, Renown), are compatible with OneSimCard, however require special dialing instructions shown here.

       

      All iPhone modes and Androids GSM Phones are compatible with OneSimCard.

      Some phones will allow calling only from OneSimCard menu. Some phones will allow calling directly, but with the use of prefix *146* as described in the user guide.

      Some phones such as Samsung and some other brands require dialing a specific prefix *146* in front of the dialed string when used with a OneSimCard.

      For example, calling to USA: Dial *146*0016175551212# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
      * is a star character located on the keypad
      • To check your balance dial *146*099 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
      • To add funds dial *146*098XXXX*ZZ and press the TALK (or SEND) button,
        where XXXX - 4 last digit of your credit card on file, ZZ - Recharge amount
      • You need to press * on your phone in the above dialing sequences
      • Activation of voice mail *146*091 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
      • Deactivation of voice mail *146*090 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
      • Check number of messages in Voice Mail *146*094 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
      • To listen to voice mail *146*095 and press the TALK (or SEND) button

      The sequence *146* can be used from any phone. However, most phones do not require it.

      It is possible to make almost any phone entirely compatible so you can call directly without using the OneSimCard menu or *146* by following the simple programming instructions below.

      How to activate compatibility mode:

       

      1. Locate OneSimCard Menu.

       On iPhones it is called SIM Applications menu and is located under Settings- Phone menu

               On Androids it is called SIM Toolkit app and it looks like one of the apps

      1. Open "OneSimCard" menu ( SIM Applications, SIM Toolkit, STK)
      2. Select "Settings
      Newer SIM Cards: Select Compatibility option and make sure "On" is selected
      Older SIM Cards: After selecting Settings:
      1. Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
      2. Dial digits "1101" and select "OK" (Screen will show "CC OptionX: ON" message)

      Bear in mind that if you have powered your telephone down, and have removed and reinstalled the battery, you will need to follow the programming steps outlined above, again.


      Here is an incomplete list of compatible mobile phones with notes about specific OneSimCard compatibility. We are constantly working on updating this list. Please share with us your experience about your specific wireless phone model and we will share this information with others.
35. OneSim VoIP
    • What is required to use the OneSim VoIP mobile application?

      OneSimCard VoIP requires you to order a compatible Personal Extra Number (PEN). Most of the PENs we offer are OneSim VoIP enabled. You also need to have an Android phone with software version 4.2 or higher, or Apple device (iPhone, iPaed, iPod Touch) with iOS 6.1 or higher.

      Once you have an active OneSim VoIP enabled PEN, you will be able to see the option to create a OneSim VoIP account in the My SIM Cards menu of your online account.

36. OneSim VoIP
    • Is there any additional cost to create a OneSim VoIP account?

      There is no additional cost except for the fact that you need to have a compatible Personal Extra Number (PEN) active on your SIM card.
37. OneSim VoIP
    • How does OneSim VoIP work when the call is received?

      When someone dials your OneSim VoIP enabled Personal Extra Number (PEN), the system will first check if your OneSimCard phone is registered with the OneSim VoIP app on a Wi-Fi network. If it is registered, the call will be sent using VoIP. If the OneSim VoIP app is not running or it is not registered on a Wi-Fi network, then the call will be sent using the standard OneSimCard roaming network and charged our standard roaming rates.
38. OneSimCard General Service Questions
    • Is Voice Mail available with OneSimCard?

      Yes - Voice Mail is available. You can turn it on/off from your phone or from our web site interface. Checking to see if there are any messages on your voicemail is free and can be done easily from your phone or online. Listening to your voice mail messages from your phone is billed at the cost of an outgoing call from the country you are in, except in the countries where we offer a discounted rate for calling voicemail.

      • To turn voicemail ON from your phone:
        dial 091 and press the TALK/SEND button
      • To turn voicemail OFF from your phone:
        dial 090 and press the TALK/SEND button
      • To check if you have any voicemail messages from your phone:
        dial 094 and press the TALK/SEND button

      New Online Voicemail Feature: You can now listen to voicemail for free by logging in to your account and clicking on the Voicemail link. There, you can also set voicemail to be emailed to you as an audio file and change passwords and other settings.

      You will receive a text notification for each new Voice mail received. Below is a sample notification message:
      "You have 1 new message in your mailbox at (Date, GMT Time). To listen to new message dial 095. Per minute charge applies."

      IMPORTANT NOTE: Voicemail messages will be automatically purged from your inbox after one month, so please be sure to save the content of any important messages before they are deleted.
39. OneSimCard General Service Questions
    • I have a Verizon or Sprint "World Phone"¬†from BlackBerry, Samsung, LG KP series, etc., can I use it with OneSimCard?

      Yes, if you have a World Phone from Verizon or Sprint such as the BlackBerry (Bold, Curve, Tour, Pearl, Storm, 8830); LG (Fathom); LG KP Series, HTC (Touch, Ozone, Imagio); Samsung (Saga, Intrepid, Renown) you can use it with OneSimCard service. It may only require the special dialing instructions below to make outgoing calls (there is no additional charge). Receiving calls is the same as with any other phone.

      To make an outgoing call you may need to do the following:

      Initiate your call by sending a free SMS message from the regular SMS menu (not the OneSimCard Menu) of a OneSimCard enabled phone:

      To: 9146
      Message: 00 + Country Code + Number

      For example, to call to Boston USA you should go to the SMS menu of the phone and send a message:

      To: 9146
      Message: 0015844440686
      After your SMS is sent wait approximately 3-10 seconds. You will get a callback as usual and your call will be connected to the destination number.

       

      Please Note:

      1. You can not send this SMS from the SMS OneSimCard Menu of the phone, it must be sent using your phone's standard SMS function. You will not be charged for sending this SMS to 9146.

      2. If you see on the screen that the message has not been sent, make sure that the SMS settings of your phone are correct and that the SMS Center number is set to: +3725099000

40. OneSimCard General Service Questions
    • What is the difference between eSIM, OneSimCard Universal, OneSimCard Expedition (formerly Data & Roam) and OneSimCard Europe & More SIM cards?

      All 4 OneSimCard SIMs work in a very similar manner.  They all use an Estonian Mobile Number as the primary number and offer a Free US or Canada PEN for 30 days. All OneSimCards also offer many  additional features such as Live Customer Support, SIM VOIP and Apps for iPhone and Android.

      The main difference between the 4 SIM cards is that OneSimCard Universal and eSIM offers Voice and SMS Text Messaging in many more countries as well as lower data rates.  The OneSimCard Expedition (formerly Data & Roam) is recommended to be used in some countries where for it offers coverage while Universal SIM does not.  For some countries like Canada, Cuba, Brazil and a few others, the OneSimCard Expedition (formerly Data & Roam) offers lower calling rates. 

      The OneSimCard Europe & More was specially created for European travelers and offers our best calling rates to the US & Canada from the 40 included countries. Both the Europe, eSIM and Universal SIM cards offer easy Direct Dialing in 40 (EM) and 75 countries respectively, while OneSimCard Expedition (formerly Data & Roam) utilizes callback. eSIM and Universal SIM offers callback dialing in those 130 countries which are not covered by the Direct Dialing. Callback dialing does not make it more complex for the caller, except for pressing the Talk button on the mobile phone twice instead of once when making a call.

      OneSimCard Universal, Plus, OneSimCard Expedition (formerly Data & Roam) and OneSimCard Europe & More also operate on different networks in many countries.
