41. Troubleshooting Questions
    • I have an Verizon or Sprint Smart Phone ( iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, HTC, etc). Will OneSimCard work with my phone?

Verizon and Sprint now offer dual mode - CDMA and GSM phones, which are capable of working on GSM networks. You can request Verizon and Sprint to unlock the GSM portion of the phone for international travel and they will most likely do this for you. However, Verizon and Sprint usually does not unlock phones 100% - they do this partially, so you are not able to use the phone while in USA.

In such Verizon and Sprint phones you can get invalid message when inserting OneSimCard SIM or your phone does not find US networks. Verizon and Sprint unlock their phones in such a way that you can't use it in USA, but once you are out of the country the SIM will be accepted. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell the difference with this kind of unlocking if the phone is not unlocked or partially unlocked to work only outside of USA. In our experience, once this kind of phone leaves USA, it starts working.

42. OneSimCard Rentals
    • What Start Date, End Date and shipping method should I choose when placing my cell phone rental order?

All orders are shipped out based on the rental Start Date that you enter and your shipping method. The Start Date is the latest day that you will need your phone rental before you leave for your trip (usually a day or two before you leave). The End Date is the day your package must be postmarked by to avoid any late return fees. Rentals will ship out with enough time to make sure you receive your order a couple of days prior to your Start Date.

For example, if you place your rental order on August 15 with a Start Date of August 30 and choose Overnight shipping, we will ship your package on August 27 so it arrives on August 28.
43. Troubleshooting Questions
    • I just arrived in a foreign country and my phone is not working, what should I do?

If you left your phone on during your flight or cruise then you should fully power down and restart your phone. Once your phone powers back on it should automatically select an available roaming network.

If your phone is not a quad-band phone, please make sure that the bands of your phone are those required in the country of your travel. You can look it up here.
In some countries like in USA turning off 3G mode of the phone will make it quicker for the phone to register on the network.
44. Troubleshooting Questions
    • Will a OneSimCard international SIM card work with my mobile phone?

OneSimCard will work with almost any unlocked GSM tri-band or quad-band cell phone. A partial list of compatible cell phones that we have tested can be viewed here.

If you need to unlock the phone, we suggest contacting your carrier or phone manufacturer for unlocking information or services.

If your phone is not a quad-band phone, please make sure that the bands of your phone are those required in the country of your travel. You can look it up here.

If you are still unsure whether your cell phone is compatible, contact support or purchase an international cell phone and SIM card bundle from us, which all come preloaded with our international SIM card, $10 balance  and OneSimCard Apps Installed.

45. How To Use Questions
    • How do I prevent the service from expiring?

The OneSimCard phone number has no expiration, provided you made at least 1 call or sent an SMS once every 18 months.

However, the funds on the SIM expire 10 months after your last recharge. The minimum recharge amount is $25. You can keep the balance from expiring by simply recharging at least once every 10 months. If you let your balance expire, then all you need to do to get the service up and running again is to log in and add funds to your SIM card. Automatic recharge will be canceled if you let your funds expire.

46. Troubleshooting Questions
    • I am traveling in Saudi Arabia and can receive calls, but I can't make an outgoing call. What should I do?

Local carriers in Saudi Arabia sometimes block standard OneSimCard outgoing calls. If this happens you need to either (a) enter a compatibility code into the settings of your phone or (b) initiate your call by sending an SMS message from the regular SMS menu (not the OneSimCard menu) of your phone.

      How To Activate Compatibility Mode:

      1. Open "OneSimCard" menu
      2. Select "Settings"
      3. Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
      4. Dial digits "802" and select "OK" (screen will show message "output channel is SMS")

Bear in mind that if you have powered your telephone down and removed and reinstalled the battery, you will need to follow the programming steps outlined above again.

      How To Deactivate Compatibility Mode:

      1. Open "OneSimCard" menu
      2. Select "Settings"
      3. Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
      4. Dial digits "801" and select "OK" (screen will show message "output channel is USSD")

How To Dial Without Activating Compatibility Mode:

Initiate your call by sending an SMS message from the regular SMS menu (not the OneSimCard menu) of your phone.

      To: 9146
      Message: 00 + Country Code + Number +
      * is a star character located on the keypad

For example, to call from Saudi Arabia to Boston USA you should go to the SMS menu of the phone and send a message:

      To: 9146
      Message: 0018574440686
After your SMS is sent wait 3-10 seconds. You will get a callback as usual and your call will be connected to the destination number.

Note 1: You can't send this SMS from the SMS OneSimCard menu of the phone.

Note 2: If you see on the screen that the message has not been sent, make sure that SMS settings of your phone is complete and the SMS Center number is set to: +3725099000

There are no special instructions to receive calls in these countries.

47. How To Use Questions
    • Do I need to change any settings on my phone when going abroad?

Not Really. If you are planning to use Mobile Data, you will need to enable Data Roaming on your phone. Everything else in modern phones get done automatically.
48. Rates and Cost Questions
    • How much does it cost to receive a call with OneSimCard?

Receiving calls is free in over 150 countries when received on your primary European phone number, including in most of Europe. To receive a call on your U.S. number or other Personal Extra Number, there is an additional per minute rate added. View all international cell phone rates.

If you receive a call through a Common Access Number or Personal Extra Number (such as a U.S. number) there is an additional charge of 20c/min. In countries with free incoming calls this would be your only charge per call.

All incoming SMS text messages are free to receive when received on your primary European number. Add 9 cent per SMS when receiving text on US or Canada PEN.

49. OneSimCard Rentals
    • What would happen if I did not return the phone as scheduled per my order?

If you do not ship the rental package back as scheduled you will be charged Over the Planned Rental Period daily fees which are specified for you at the time of purchase and could be found here.

If the rental package is not returned within 15 days after the planned rental period has passed, we will consider the phone purchased and you will be charged for the full cost of the package. Returns will not be accepted after this point regardless of the reason for the delay.
50. Ordering Questions
    • Do I need to activate the SIM card when my order is received or purchased from a retail store?

Yes, you will need to activate the SIM card once the order is received.

All OneSimCard international SIM cards and international cell phones with SIM cards are shipped inactive to prevent theft and improve security. Only the person who placed the order for OneSimCard service can activate it.

Activation is very simple: When you receive the SIM, just log in to your account at www.OneSimCard.com and click the large Activate button you will see in the middle of the screen.

Retail Customers: If you purchased your SIM card through an online or brick-and-mortar retail store, you should have received activation instructions inside the product packaging.
